FIA World Rallycross
Visiting South Africa for the second year running, the world’s fastest growing motorsport needed an event magazine that could keep up. I pitched for and won this account, creating one of the best event magazines to feature on the FIA World Rallycross calendar.
As content director and project manager, I interviewed some of motorsport’s greatest names, including Petter Solberg, Sébastien Loeb and Mattias Ekström, as well as WRX new guard – Kevin and Timmy Hansen, Andreas Bakkerud and Jānis Baumanis. Inside was a synergy of features, articles, Q&As and artwork handpicked by me.
Springbok Rugby
Tenfour Media was a small agency that did big things. There, I worked under award-winning journalists by the likes of Chris Whitfield and David Moseley, honing my skills as a content producer. Following their departure from the business, I need to fill the shoes of the Sports Illustrated’s former features Editor, and one of South Africa’s most trusted journalists.
I created content rich in variety, with interviews with the Springboks' celebrated captains, Siya Kolisi, and one of Word Rugby’s best players in Pieter-Steph du Toit. My feature articles delved deep into the minds of rugby’s greatest coaches, like Eddie Jones and Clive Woodward.
WildX
A Comair company, WildX designs travel experiences tailored specifically to their client’s needs and dreams. Providing the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity, WildX takes clients to Africa’s wildest reaches, where clients can experience unparalleled safari immersion. The website is visually stunning and is filled with a variety of expertly curated content.
It became my responsibility to establish a highly capable team of creators to produce content for WildX. My role within the team was to train new content writers on the subject matter and product, and to create marketing content of my own for various WildX partners.
Two Oceans Marathon
Strangely, I didn’t learn anything about running. The Two Oceans Marathon magazine allowed me to discover the craft of content. Here, I realised the responsibility of capturing someone’s story, shaping it into engaging copy, and speaking their truth.
As the Head of Features, I was challenged with creating a variety of content for the annual Two Oceans Marathon Magazine. Using my unique formula, I spoke with Comrades legend Bruce Fordyce, Bok Women’s Sevens player and marathon pace-setter Courtney Groener, and celebrity presenter Katlego Maboe to create entertaining and insightful pieces. The magazine is seen as a trophy in some senses, and is a keepsake for thousands of entrants.
