As a creative professional, I produce a variety of inspiring content including content marketing, copywriting and editorial. I particularly enjoy brand-building, and helping other creatives and producers find a voice that'll reach their audience.

Dane Hansen always adds a unique flourish to his copy. With a cheeky, irreverent style, Dane can turn the most mundane of topics into a gripping page turner or, as is the case with modern prose, into a gripping page scroller. More than that though, he is fearless as well as disarming in his interviewing technique, prising the most precious of titbits from the interviewee. Finding a talented storyteller with a hard news nose is rare indeed, but that is exactly what you will get in Dane.

FIA World Rallycross

I pitched for and won this account. I was the project manager, interviewer and writer for all original content, having spoken to legends Petter Solberg, Sébastien Loeb and Mattias Ekström. I also influenced the design of the original pieces.

Kulula Holidays

I created original travel content, such as listicles, guides, editorial and research pieces for kulula holidays, a division of kulula which falls under the Comair umbrella. Pieces were on-brand and followed the unique tones, style and voice of kulula and promoted domestic travel.

HSBC Cape Town 7s

The HSBC Rugby 7s Cape Town is one of South Africa’s most well-attended sporting events, with nearly 120,000 in attendance over the weekend. As one of the integral writers I created a range of content, speaking to Kyle Brown, Werner Kok and Philip Snyman.

WildX

WildX is a tour operator offering tailor-made, luxury safari adventures across the African continent. I was responsible for large portions of content marketing to promote luxury lodges and their experiences, as well as in-depth and entertaining original editorial.

SA Rugby

 I was the Editor and Head Writer for several of these magazines, covering fixtures in the Castle Lager Incoming Series and Rugby Championship. I have interviewed Springbok Captain Siya Kolisi, world-class forward, Pieter-Steph du Toit and many more.

W.P. Rugby

Up until the end of 2018, the DHL Stormers required print match magazines for each of their home fixtures in Vodacom Super Rugby. I was responsible for two staple articles for every magazine, namely Know Your Opponents and Three Players to Watch.

Old Mutual

I created content from sports press releases to content  on their World of Endurance website. Here, I interviewed legends like Bruce Fordyce and Bongmusa Mthembu who shared their expert advice, while crafting Old Mutual product into these pieces.

ABSA Cape Epic

I helped cover the ABSA Cape Epic as well as some PR aspects of the event in 2017. Regarded as one of the pinnacle mountain bike stage races in the world, I was able to interview big names like Tour de France winners and riders, Cadel Evans and George Hincapie.

SMF

Stellenbosch Media Forum is a Journalism Honours student’s first chance to cut their teeth as a journalist. I interviewed South African media mogul Jeremy Mags, talking about the future of journalism. I was the master behind the concept, article, sub editing and design of the piece.

Die Matie is an opportunity to get into the nitty-gritties of newspaper writing. Clear, concise copy that gets to the point is the name of the game. Here, I interviewed The Voice star, Francis Bowers about his experiences on the show and as a singer.

We Are Live

Once one of the top music promoters in South Africa, We Are Live brought out some of the world’s biggest acts like Bastille, Incubus and old-but-gold Boney M. I worked closely on Bastille’s tour to South Africa, interviewing and building rapport with each band member.

I covered this 9-day, creating feature content, updates and press releases through the event. In a sponsored Subaru Forester, I chased hundreds of riders across the country as they chased the horizon. I also interviewed SA MTB legends Philip Buys and Matthys Beukes
